Daion Morton is junior at Indiana University pursuing a degree in journalism with a specialization in TV broadcasting. He has interned at news stations including WTIU/WFIU (Bloomington), Inside Indiana Business (Indianapolis), and WTHR (Indianapolis). Currently he is a Community Educator for RPS; a Media School Journalism Ambassador, the Vice-President of the Alpha Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, a Hudson & Holland Scholar, and a Cox Legacy Scholar. After graduation he plans to work as a reporter for a reputable news station.

Leah Johnson is a junior majoring in journalism, minoring in African-American African Diaspora Studies and receiving a certificate in Political and Civic Engagement. Using digital and interactive media as a vehicle, Leah aims to open up the conversation about race and identity in America. In the past, she has interned with the Indiana Democratic Party Headquarters; WPLN (NPR affiliate) in Nashville, TN, EL Gazette in London, UK, and is currently reporting and producing for Faultlines a program to be aired in February, exploring the intersections of race and class in America for WFIU (NPR affiliate) in Bloomington, IN.

Along with being the Vice President of NABJ this year, Leah is also Co-President of American Student Radio, a Media School Journalism Ambassador, a multimedia reporter for the Indiana Daily Student, a member of the Student Media Advisory Board, and the Multimedia Director for Detriot, Michigan -based ColorBlind Magazine. After completing her undergraduate studies, Leah plans to pursue a career in public radio broadcasting. Today however, you can most likely find her in the multimedia lab sound booth, working on a never-ending radio documentary about prescription drug abuse on college campuses.

Taylor HurtTaylor Hurt, Special Affairs Director

Taylor Hurt is an Indiana girl, born and raised in Indianapolis. She’s never missed a State Fair and her culture center is Broad Ripple. She is currently an Indiana University Junior, majoring in Broadcast Journalism with a concentration in Law and Public Policy; and a minor in Dutch. She prides herself on her work ethic and ability to adapt to new and challenging environments. While at IU she has worked as the Outreach Coordinator of the Democracy Campaign for Indiana Public Interest Research Group (INPIRG) and the Public Relations Chair for National Association of Black Journalist (NABJ). She is now the Special Affairs Chair for NABJ and the Journalism Chair for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Her dream is to someday be a White House Correspondent or a Political Correspondent for MSNBC or C-Span.

Siani Powell is a junior studying journalism with a second concentration in Communication and Culture. Other than being NABJ’s treasurer, she is also the Director of Public Relations for the Residence Halls Association, a reporter for IUSTV, and she recently served as a Welcome Week Assistant for Freshman Move In. After graduation, Siani plans to relocate and pursue her dreams as an investigative reporter.

Feyi Alufohai is sophomore majoring in journalism at Indiana University. Her specialty is magazine and reporting. She interned at Al Jazeera the summer of 2012. She is the editorial assistant at Indiana University’s  Inside Magazine. After graduation she plans to go straight into the magazine and online blogging field.

Charnay Pickett, Public Relations Director

Charnay Pickett is a senior in the IU Media School focusing in Public Relations with a minor in Political Science. She has worked as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista as well as been published in MahoganyChic magazine. This past summer, Charnay worked for Girls Inc. as their journalism educator and taught the girls about the importance of journalism. Charnay is also involved in the National Society of Leadership and Success, PRSSA, College Mentors for Kids and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Upon graduation, she hopes to work abroad in the UK for a fashion PR agency.
